Description of Action: House Bill 2682: Directs the Board of Education to prioritize resources providing first priority to meeting state standards and goals and second priority to implementing federal standards and goals. The Board is also directed to maximize local control and flexibility, minimize additional state resources diverted to implementing federal programs, seek waivers from federal statutes, and determine if NCLB is requiring the state to spend state and local resources or causing a change in the curriculum.
